    Interior Refresh

This may be common knowledge for some, but I wanted to share this little tip. And wanted to get a little time on this 'refresh' to see how it would hold up, and I have been pleasantly surprised. As will happen with any vehicle, coffee gets spilled, ketchup on lost fries, etc.. the carpets pick up a few stains. My '06 had a few when I purchased it. I had looked into a carpet replacement and those options were very limited or pricey, or both, and then saw a youtube video put out by someone in CA 'repainting' the interior of a trashed corolla. Duplicolor has a carpet and fabric paint, so, for about $20 I thought I would give it a try.

I had already pulled the seats out while addressing a leak in the cowl so it seemed to be the perfect time to try this. The carpet of my H3 is 'Graphite' so I did a 2-3 coat approach. 1st coat or 2 was flat black and the last coat was a misting of the gray.

It turned out pretty well, but if I were to do it again, I think I would just do the black.

The only issue is where the floor mat had cracked below my heel. The paint cans don't go as far as you think they should, but all in all, it did a good job.

I can't say enough good things about the Duplicolor interior paint. If anyone has experience with the maroon interior in 80s G-Bodies, you know it inevitibly fades to pink and looks like trash. It's beautiful when new, but goes downhill with UV exposure. Mine was no different, and the Duplicolor paint brought it back to life. I was going to put in all new covers, door panels, etc. , but I wasn't happy with the afermarket stuff available, so I went this route on the advice of a friend. Saved me a lot of money (well over $1,000) and I think the results speak for themselves.

I have used the Duplicolor spray a lot back when I owned a late seventies Pontiac Sunbird. I would get parts from Pick-a-Part that were the wrong color and use the spray to make it look better. I was always surprised how well it held up to the intense summer heat in the Mojave desert.

One last comment, the reviews I've seen all seem to say that it's much easier to go darker with the new color than lighter.

Wow, those all look amazing. How does the paint hold up over time to abrasion? Does it rub off on your clothes or anything? That'd suck to get in with something light colored or white and get out with color rubbed off onto your clothes.

Mine still looks as good as the day I did it, BUT it's also not a daily driver. I've probably only put 1000 miles on it over the 3 years since I did it. Never had any issue with color rubbing off.

I love the classic color on its interior. It's not the usual design that I see nowadays. Good job!

Paint has held up excellent over the past 3-years. Still feels like a new interior. Once the paint has dried, it stays where you put it. I think I let it set 1-hr between coats, due to a variety of things going on & a day or two before I put the seats back in.
