It's time, we have been planning for over a year now. Here is the drawing of the new kitchen, since all build threads start with a plan. :giggle:

We are partially re-doing our kitchen now. New granite countertops, new sink, faucet, cooktop, light fixtures.. Re-doing the half bathroom also. Just poured 9000 sf more driveway to connect all of the shops and barn.

What's changing:

We are taking the current elevated breakfast bar (where alrock and Steve enjoyed their chicken tacos when they delivered the H1) to counter level. So the whole island will be 156" x 42". Currently there is a wall that will be removed on the right end of the island.

The Fridge will be moved to the left side with a pantry and a desk. Where the fridge is now will be a convection microwave and a new gas wall oven. This will give us a lot more pantry space. The two cabinets on either side of the stove are 48" glass door cabinets.

The island will be getting a new sink and faucets and a trash compactor on the left and a dishwasher on the right.

We are using the same dishwasher, Fridge and stove since we just purchased them 3 years ago when we moved in. Here are the samples of the granite for the back wall countertops, the cabinets and the butcher block top on the island. Flooring is also new so it's staying the same.

How exciting!!! Post up some picks!!

Rick took down the upper cabinets last night and got the floor protection installed.

Here is the inspiration photo on the butcher block island top (Brazilian Cherry/Jatoba) and the sink, a black gloss farmhouse fire clay. The new Faucet is antique brass and we will also have a antique brass pot filler above the stove :)

Sorry for the huge photos lol I'll resize them in photo bucket as soon as I figure it out :giggle:

Good luck on the reno!

I just finished our kitchen - well there is one thing left to hook up, the hood vent, but that is a one beer job for this weekend!!

The floor plan looks nice. I can't wait to see how it will turn out. Make sure to keep us posted with the progress.

Good luck on the re-do.
It will be well worth the headaches in the end.
(and trust me, there will be headaches) ... :)

Finally, finishing up the reno on my place out in the sticks (Way past time to move out of Dallas).
Prepping for a Feb move-in.
It will be close.
Ready or not, the moving trucks will be rolling.
The kitchen was the worst, but it is coming together nicely and is 95% done.
Hardwoods and tile were the easiest/smoothest thing, believe it or not.
Down to painting and the detail work now.

It is probably not to everyone's liking....a little out of the box for some I am told.
Note: Pics are a bit dark and reflect a blue'ish tone when actually everything is shades of black, white and gray.
Here are a few pics of the un-finished product.

Looks very modern which is surprising for someone that by any standards would be considered a dinosaur. :) To each his own. I like it. Ours is more traditional ranch looking, which everyone would expect from a Texas redneck.

I like it. I like it a lot, actually.

I'd have loved to knock out a wall and do an open plan with island but it was load bearing and had several stand pipes running through it.

One of the many compromises we had to make.
