I lost one in Moab years ago. Only thing that held them in place was an O ring around one of the tabs in the back. They were too loose without it.

Got the covers. Only one had an o-ring, and the other one was starting to dry rot. Those are replaced easily enough. The covers fit just fine upside down. So no problem there other than how it looks.
