Fuel Leak at Fuel Rail Connection Point

Hey guys!

I had some work done on the truck the other day and a few days after I brought the truck home from the mechanic's shop I developed a slow leak from the quick connect in the photo below.

The day that the leak started it was - 5 so I just left the truck for a few days since I knew it would be back above 32 come Monday. Last night (Monday) after work I went out to check things out in the warmer weather. I tried to push and twist that connection to see if there was any click or obvious signs that the connection was not seated right. didn't see, hear, or feel anything, but when I started the truck there was no more leak.

So either I have an intermittent leak, the pushing and twisting I did help get a better seal, or the cold weather caused the leak.

Either way i am now nervous to drive the truck because the leaking fuel falls right on the exhaust manifold!

Has anyone had this issue before?

Does anyone know if this is a serviceable part? I can only seem to find the full fuel line.

Has anyone used some AN fittings to replace this part? I see that there are all sorts of quick connect fittings, I just don't which ones would be the correct ones if I were to adapt the factory line onto an AN fitting then back to the fuel rail.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Cheers,

I'm wondering if you have any different parts on your engine since you also have the Magnuson. The picture of the fuel rail connection in the book I'm looking at for the 2009 LH8 engine looks different at the fuel rail connection. There may need to be a secondary tether clip on there, part number 25654373. On an unmodified 2009 H3 Alpha, the Fuel Feed Pipe part number is AC Delco 15885443. The Evap Emis Pipe is AC Delco 19368607, looks similar and is in the same area. The Fuel Injector Rail is AC Delco 12660709. See the picture of the fuel rail in the link below.

That is definitely not OEM. But yours at least looks replaceable based on the picture. You'll probably need to reach out to Magnuson to see what the part number is.

That being said, odds are it was due to the extreme cold that you experienced the leak, once it warmed up the oring inside was able to soften up enough to seal. I'd still replace it though since it seems to be on its way out.

So I checked the install instructions for the supercharger and the fuel line does not get replaced, but the fuel rail is not OEM so that connection point is what has changed.

So that being said if I were to order part #2 (AC Delco 15885443) in the image below then I would get a whole new section of fuel line which includes that connection point.

Seems odd you'd have such a different fuel rail setup if it's not part of the Magnuson kit. Did you have that installed or did you get it that way? I can't recall.

Looking at the pic again i'd be a little worried about the rust on the inlet to the fuel rail, you'll want to make sure to inspect the sealing surfaces when you go to replace the fitting.

Also just did a quick Google and seems like this might work too: https://www.amazon.com/OTC-Fuel-Line-Fitting-Set/dp/B00063VGD6

There's a 3/8" option and a 5/16" option, not sure which one you'd need.

This might also work if you're wanting to go AN: https://www.amazon.com/Connect-Adapter-Fitting-LS3-6AN-AN808-02B/dp/B015ORLDNG

The fuel rail is not OEM it was changed out with the Supercharger installation.

The fuel line coming to it is OEM.

That OTC 7629 3/8" Fuel Line Fitting might work!

When I pop off the fuel line I plan on cleaning up that surface rust, I don't imagine that it made its way past the connection but you never know!

Thanks for posting up those links
