Today the group went on Poison Spider. Moab itself was very busy with departing Jeeps of all types as Easter Jeep Safari ended. Reloader, 3Hummers, Bebe and LagunaH1 were not able to head out today.

Poison Spider is a nice moderate trail with some good ledges and climbs, and since it's in/out trail you do a lot of the stuff twice.

Poison Spider pics can be downloaded here in hi-res. https://alrock.smugmug.com/Offroading-2019/Poison-Spider-042119

I "Moabed" my plate a bit more today.

Neo's awesome new ZR2. Nice easy run for him, barely scraped any rocks.

Today was Hell's Revenge with a bit of Fins N Things. We had a special guest with us today - David Tracy from Jalopnik, with his Project POStal DJ5. He didn't wheel it on Hell's but he took it on Fins for a short while. You can read about his project here. https://jalopnik.com/by-the-grace-of-the-car-gods-my-500-postal-jeep-actual-1833797327

It was a great day yesterday. I'm VERY happy with the way the jeep's new suspension handled everything.

Thanks, Alex, for all the spotting, leading and photographing you did yesterday!

My jeep has developed a squeal from the transmission, T-case or one of the diffs. I'll try to diagnose it tomorrow, might take it to a shop to have it looked at.

I hit the brakes hard with a pressure washer and I *think* that made a difference. I'll do some more testing this afternoon.

Made it back home safely with a huge amount of thanks to Reloader and Alrock!!

Turned out I also completely sheared off both ends of the driver side swaybar link as well, which apparently also popped the outer CV clamp off, we didn't notice that until we had it on the trailer, so it's a good thing Alrock and Reloader decided to just haul my sorry butt back home instead of the original plan of me trying to drive home in front wheel drive. I had to leave my trailer at Neo's but I'm planning on swing back through on my way home from Overland Expo West in Flagstaff later in May to pick it up.

Truck is parked in the garage now and mostly emptied of all my stuff and will soon be ready to go under the knife. I ordered a used, complete 4.56 rear axle with the e-locker off Ebay for $700 shipped to be a quick replacement for my blown axle. I'm going to pull the front axle out and just drive in 2wd rear until I can go over the front end and regear the front to 4.56 as well.

Maybe next year will be the year I can go a full week? [emoji16]

Glad to see you made it home with your rig. Alrock and Reloader are 2 of the best, if not THE best.

Yesterday was Metal Masher but I was just able to around to uploading pics now. https://alrock.smugmug.com/Offroading-2019/Metal-Masher-042319/

As JPaul already acknowledged, he had a busted rear diff but at least it was near the end of the difficult sections. The snap happened on Mirror Gulch on a slick climb during some wheelspin. After cleaning out the rear end we used a combination of winching and strapping to get him up to the top of the hill. After that, he was able to drive out on exit roads using front wheel drive only.

Metal Masher as a lot of fun with great obstacles. It also provides some nice scenic vistas.

The company selling the rear axle ended up being jerks about the warranty (seriously, only difference is one option code has the locker and the other doesn't) which made me really sketchy about the whole solution, so I'm cancelling the order and am just going to spend the money now to get my old rear rebuilt. I'll probably be down for the same amount of time anyway and this will cost me less in the long run. Plus I can be confident that the replacement isn't going to blow up on me later for some stupid reason. Thank goodness my wife was expecting me to spend a couple grand anyway once she had heard what happened.

Today was Porcupine Rim, a moderate trail in length and difficulty. However, it does mess with you as a lot of it is shelf roads but it ends with incredible views. No casualties today. Pics are here. https://alrock.smugmug.com/Offroading-2019/Porcupine-Rim-042519/
