H3 radiator transmission cooler exposed.

Well was a little bored today so I cut open my old OEM radiator to look at the transmission cooler. Wow that thing is small (that's what she said). I understand thermal dynamics but the darn thing only holds a few ounces of liquid.

Unlike a cooler that relies on air moving past the fins these are in coolant. Liquid transfers heat much better than air. Acts as a warmer in cold temps too.

Yup. The last couple days have been single digit around here. My H3 won’t shift into fourth gear until it is fully warmed up...about five miles on the highway.
