Big Country trip

Okay, I didn't make this trip in the H3 but I'm still getting the tires dirty and hitting a few "trails". Parker and I set out to get him states #26-#29 and for me to complete my bucket list objective of getting all 50 states. Last night was Canon City, CO and tonight is Greybull, WY. Montana and the Dakotas still to come.

Again, I apologize for non-H3 pics but this is such a good road trip car (except for no storage space).

Off camber, Off Road at last night's camping spot

Had a good day going from Greybull WY, through the Shoshone National Forest to Cooke City, MT. Then doubled back on the Beartooth Highway and eventually made it east to Miles City, Mt

Wow, great pic Doug! Conditions were a bit hazy today. Wasn't supposed to be here. Actually was going to Glacier National through Pocatello, and was going to call you, but plans changed last minute

50th state completed today. Drove through Sturgis as it gets set up for Bike Week. We hit Wall Drug and the Badlands. Tomorrow is Rushmore

I couldn't figure out why those tires looked so weird, or the sign looked so old, and why it was only advertising an extra 5k-8k miles, until I kept scrolling and saw the old cars and realized it was a vintage sign and tires.

My wife worked at Wall Drug a couple summers while she was in college. We went up there and visited the place while we were engaged. That was about 14 years ago.

Spent some time in Custer State Park and Rushmore National Memorial. Besides great things to see, there are some great driving roads there in the Black Hills on the Iron Mountain Road especially if you go early in the morning before the traffic starts.

Also went and saw the Crazy Horse Memorial that's under construction. Neat story behind it with no government funding.

I also went to the Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles in Lexington, NE. Privately funded and ran, they do not charge admission but do accept donations. Despite the "No Pets" sign on the door they let Parker come in as they know he appreciates our military.

Here's Prototype #1

And then Parker suggested we go home, so we did.

Great post Alex! Glad you were able to finish up your states and got off the interstate to actually see things.

We've got a 1970 Dodge Challenger running under it's original power now and once we rebuild the motor/upgrade trans to OD I'd love to hit the road for a trip like this.
