I'm running a stock transfer case with a 6L80. But it takes some fabrication and also disassembling the entire transmission to get to the output shaft to cut it down to a 27 spline.
I got your PM. I'll get you some info over email.
As far as novak, yes it's the same adapter as in the jeep kits. Give them a call, you only need the bare adapter, not all the other stuff in the kit. I think they labeled the part as a 6L81 and I recall it was $395 about 4 years ago.
Conversion shift shaft
add this to your list. Let's you keep the factory shift quadrant wiring. I wish this was available when I did mine. I had to use relays for the park and reverse and wire that into my harness.
No mods are necessary for the shift cables. It fits right on 6L80e. I...
I'm obviously far from a stock setup but the 6 speed is a night and day difference from the 4. It was well worth the effort in my case and I think 06h3 doesn't regret his choice either. We are both also running tap shifting which is a nice feature.
If I had less common sense I'd like to find...
Gosh. Yes adapter flange. Sorry but you just reminded me that the output shaft was just one piece of the puzzle. I forgot all of the other work that went into this setup.
Ok first, you need to define what you are looking for. If you want to retain factory functionality, awd, and passenger...
I'm running the factory transfer case on a 6L80e. I had the output shaft turned down to the smaller diameter 27 spline. The output shaft is the first thing inserted into the case so everything has to come out to swap it.
If you go this route, my recommendation would be to get another...
1) buy what you need to do it your self
A) hp tuners
B) efi live
C) generic ??
2) pay someone to do it
A) dealer [$110 you had quoted]
B) send you pcm in to someone
C) local tuner
D) friend hookup.
If you are gonna spend $2000 on a transmission get a few local quotes to have your transmission rebuilt. If it drives in forward and you can get it to a shop you will save a lot of headache. I would think you can get a rebuild quote with some warranty for the 2-3k range.
That said I have...
If you look at the KO3s it looks like they have tried to make it more street friendly for oem applications. It looks like a much lower void ratio. This will probably mean the KO2s will get harder to find and hopefully I can find some at a discount.
Any one here run these for any significant mileage and any good or bad feedback.
Since the stock tires I have run 4 sets Cooper STT Pros for the last 355k miles. I'm considering going to some aftermarket wheels since 16s are getting harder to find. I don't really do any wheeling and most of...
The ECP (engineered cooling products) one has a legit thicker core. It's listed at 2.0" thick if you want an upgrade. I can check actual dimensions this weekend if anyone is curious. I thought I saw somewhere they integrated the supports into the design. The plastic prices did not match up...
I have a very warped sense of practicality but I think all ls swaps should just go to a 6L80e. I know it's not your swap. If this started life as a 5cyl then the bell housing and input shaft have been swapped in that trans. A standard rebuild should be able to refresh what's in there without...
To me the u joint is the fuse. It would fail first before the driveshaft. What was the nature of the driveshaft failures? Did they twist the yokes beyond repair?
