SoCal Event - Los Padres National Forest (near Frazier Park) June 21-23, 2013
OAUSA will hold it's annual Summer Fest and Field Day event on June 21-23, 2013, at the McGill Campground in the Los Padres National Forest. The campground is located about an hours drive north of Los Angeles.
This will be a family event involving three days of camping in the mountains (elevation 7500 feet), an official ARRL Field Day competition, and several trail runs, including the Miller Jeep Trail. We will also offer all levels of Amateur Radio license testing on Sunday.
For those who want to explore the area, there are hundreds of miles of off pavement trails, for all levels of difficulty.
The camp site is accessible by 2WD and all vehicles are welcome. For more information and sign-up details click here.
When: June 21-23, 2013 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
Where: McGill Campground in the Los padres National Forest (Near Frazier Park - not affected by the recent fires)
Camp facilities: campfire rings (no word yet on whether fires will be allowed), tables, pit toilets and established campsites. No water or electrical hookups.
Field day: Starts at 10:00AM on Saturday and runs for 24 hours until 10:00AM on Sunday. All participants are welcome, with or without a Ham Radio license.
