Felons are protected by the5th ammendment for failing to register a weapon.

Yes only honest people will ever be prosecuted for not registering a weapon.

And here's why... (this will make most of you sick)

The National Firearms Act of 1934 required the registration of certain types of firearms. Miles Edward Haynes was a convicted felon who was charged with failing to register a firearm under the Act. Haynes argued that, because he was a convicted felon and thus prohibited from owning a firearm, requiring him to register was essentially requiring him to make an open admission to the government that he was in violation of the law, which was thus a violation of his right not to incriminate himself.

i think that would be a good argument for everyone , i dont have to tell you because i have the right to remain silent ... if you don't consent they don't have the power , until they start kicking the doors in dressed in burkas but with fbi or atf on the back . the militarized police turning on the people is what's scary. i'm glad most of our sheriffs stood up with that letter ... remember Ruby Ridge and Waco brought to you by that last Liberal Administration.
