Hey Dudes and Dudets.
I had a great ride home from work tonight.
I just started out. Probably 3 out of the 43 miles home. The truck in front of me kicks up a freaking rock and leaves a nice sized "bullet" in my driver side window. That ticked me off. Drove another 20 miles and I hear a tick-tick sound. It goes faster as my RPM increases. I should have pulled over and checked it, but it was a bad neighborhood. So I drive along. The ticking sound stops after about 30 seconds. Only I start smelling SMOKE! It gets kind of thick inside. Smells like burning rubber! It's getting worse! Open the window. I start looking for a place to pull over. After a few more miles, it doesn't seem so bad. All gauges look good. I decide to try and make it home. I get home and lift the hood.... The damn air conditioner compressor clutch! The plates on the compressor clutch are shredded. So I figure that's my next project. I wonder if I can buy just the clutch or do you need to buy the entire compressor. Anyway, I'm all pissed off now and close the hood. My rear view mirror falls off! It's hanging by the wire. I gave up and walked away... Grabbed a few beers and waited for the buzz to kick in.
Crappy trip home! By the way, don't you hate those long stories just to get your point across?
