Bigunit and I did some vehicle testing on Redington Pass yesterday, which is a nice set of trails and play areas east of Tucson. We invited his friend Dwaine, owner of Preferred Fabrication and the Scorpion 4x4 Brand. Cotilo joined us, along with her mom and nephew. This was the first time I had gone on a trail with a rear locker and yeah, there's a bit of a difference. Okay, a HUGE difference. It was also a necessary trip to make sure his new TD bump stops and my Bilsteins were working properly. Yeah, all in the name of scientific research.
We were of course playing "follow the leader" and Dwaine tried to keep up. He was witness to the significant flex that our Hummers have.
He was a bit intimidated but still tried to follow our line down this obstacle
Okay, so maybe it didn't play out just like that . . . Here's Dwaine demonstrating some flex
Naturally, he comes down this line cleanly
And I cleaned off some paint
Bigunit caught some air
We took a mellower line down
We made it to Chiva Falls which can be seen in the distance here. It's about 75' in height.
This doesn't give very good scale to the 75'
Other than Bigunit's crossmember bushing failing in a big way (leaving the truck inoperable once we got to pavement) it was a good day. Even the cattle were impressed
