Okay. Here's some nice pics of an H3T for sale in the "online finds" section.

This guy has some really nice photos, and they are "square" to the camera....perfect for chopping apart. I'm wanting to see what a two-door H3T would look like. I tired to download the trial version of Photoshop to play around with but, I realized that its a huge program. Plus...I'm not really into fartin around with editing software. But, if there is somebody out there that can do a nice chop job...I would love to see some 2-door pics. Any takers?...



Ultimately, I think the H3 SUV would make a better 2-door truck. The bed is so small on the T, that by the time you shorten the cab...it might look really goofy (Suzuki). Plus, I like the idea of not having the separation line in the body (between the cab and the bed)....so, chopping the roof off the SUV seems to be a better choice than sectioning the frame on the T. I've been kickin this around for quite some time, and I already have most of the drivetrain for this project figured out (SOA & SAS)...just begining research on which vehicle is better to start with.

nacho is probably the guy to ask...I would use an H3 IMO if you were to do this project. Cheaper and easier.

Sorry....took me awhile to quit laughing. I think that looks ridiculous, and it confirms my suspicions. Can you imagine the wheelies? Like something a clown would drive in a parade! I can picture the door flying open and 50 clowns just keep coming out...one by one. -LOL.

I'm pretty critical about GM's designs but, I gotta say that they nailed the wheelbase with the SUV. Its exactly what it should be...a nice blend between high-speed stability and off-road capability. I see the SUVs consistently outperforming the Ts on the trail and its all due to the shorter wheel base. The SUVs are less prone to belly dragging, and they also turn tighter. So aside from the rarity of the T...that also plays an important roll in choosing which one to carve up. I think chopping the top off an SUV and welding the rear doors shut might be less work than sectioning the T's frame, and trying to integrate the rear wall of the cab into a 2-door format. I think the proportions (longer-bed) would be more appealing to the eye, as well.

I'm gonna see if I can't score a beat-up (wrecked) H3 and do a truck conversion. It will be a throw-back to the early 70s Blazers, Scouts, and Broncos. All of these had lift-off hard-tops and the cab was fully open to the rear cargo area. They had a "bed" but it was part of the quarter panel and not a separate box, like all modern trucks now use. Somewhere along the way...Detroit forgot how cool this design was. I'll give it a 70's retro paint job with base-model white bumpers & steel wheels, just like they offered em back then. Might even put an old vintage Warn winch up front to complete the look. Thanks for the Photo-shop work...nice job.

That one is much better. But, it would be a ton of extra work to stretch the box like that. If I were to do that...it might be easier to put the 2-door cab and the stretched box down on an SUV frame. Which begs the question...why not just start with an SUV in the first place? Thats the direction I'm leaning.

How bout a Photo-chop of the same idea except...start with an SUV side view and cut the top off?

Yes...I was thinking of keeping the roof above the cab. Also keeping stock front doors. But everything aft would get cut off. Then weld up the rear side-doors and install a canvas top. Like this...
