As you know we did get the V8 H3 in South Africa, but in very limited numbers, and finding a Adventure model is even harder, but I finally managed to get one :)

So I'm trading my 2007 H3 I5 Adventure for a 2010 HUMMER H3 V8 ADVENTURE :giggle:

Jip, I tend to reach for the Hummers key's each morning instead of the daily drivers.....

Will have to force myself to use the oil burner again from next week

Had a look at the V8's cooling system, and with the normal radiator fan, with two electric fans at the front, the V8 should have no heat issues

Not a scratch on the underside

hmm, doublesided tape on numberplate...... wonder whats the story behind that....

So I took the new V8 for some trails (nothing Major, just wanted to get a feel for it before I add all the toys back on)

Wonder if I shouldn't try to get some ALPHA badges :giggle:

the V8 perform really well off road, with me never exceeding 1,500RPM in low range to overcome an obstacle, mostly 1,000RPM was sufficient

I really dislike the BFGoodrich, poor stopping power on the open road, and you can see the sidewall is vulnereable in the few pics.

Obviously the landy went where I feared to go

Must say the Fuel consumption is impressing me a little

The Alpha badges would look cool! You really going to love the V8, but don't tell anyone. You never know when you might need a replacement. With the number of Alpha H3T's built, I hoping there is a mall crawler out there somewhere.

Thanks guys, but first need to get it off road ready again,

Got myself the tie in connecters yesterday, so I can nof fit the ARB bullbar and connect all bullbar lights.
Need to fit the Kumho's as the BFGoodrich is sh!t
Get the roof rack on and definately get some spots mounted (within the law specs)
Need to source some UCP, as I think my custom one is a bit of overkill.

Today I started refitting all the toys to the Hummer

First had to get the trailer out the garage to get to the ARB Bullbar
attachment.php

Wanted to compare 35" v.s. 35"
attachment.php

Took of the bling roof rails
attachment.php

Hmm, bit tight, note to self extend A-frame to be able to open door fully
attachment.php

Quick wash
attachment.php

Time to tackle the ARB, first move the spots, as they were rubbing on sides against bar

I just love the stepdrill

So I drilled additional holes for the belly plate to fit on the V8, the belly plate has aquired more damage than I can remember
rolleyes.gif
honestly, I know of one or two instances but not enough to peal the paint off like this

Time for some rubberising/polymer paint, to see if it will hold up better

And while I was busy, I sommer did the rear shock skids as well

The Hummer is approaching its completion, as the only thing now remains is the Snorkel to be fitted
rolleyes.gif
still having no luck with the Flashpaq tune, and communication with their support department has seized... this is getting me a bit worked up

attachment.php

Obviously I now need another project
evil.gif

and as luck would have it, the Echo trailer hasn't had anything done to it since I acquired it three+ years ago
rolleyes.gif

Soooo, as most will say, the best for overlanding is to have the trailer tyres the same size as the vehicle tyres, and as the Hummer is the designated overlander, the standard setup of the Echo just wont do and as I happen to have 4 spare 315/75R16. (This would meen I have 3 spare tyres plus a carcass to take with on trips
evil.gif
, should be sufficient me thinks)

Stock v.s. Hummer size
attachment.php

the spare looks Huge
attachment.php

Finally the Hummer test
attachment.php

Now to do a little lift on the trailer for articulation

Looking at the image you are probably impeded by the trailer jockey wheel............You can get swingaway trailer wheels which will tuck the jockey wheel in line with the trailer A frame so that's a relatively easy fix before you think about any of the other stuff.

Those lights are to big for my taste, but I am sure they light up the area.. Looking forward to see the finished product on this Alpha you now own... You did a awesome job on your last rig.. Good job.. Oh, I am not trying to be critical. We all have different styles.. Hopefully more pics to come

The Trailer Jockey wheel actually has a quick disconnect, so I usually take it completely off and store it in the nose cone of the trailer, I just lifted it slightly for the poser pick :emb:

He he, different viewing angles makes the spots look bigger and smaller, I do know the yellow covers make them way more obvious :)

Dicided the past weekend to go to a neighbouring country, Lesotho, to go and play in the snow, and obviously decided to take the toughest route I could find, that would be the infamous SANI PASS :giggle:
