Happy to be here. We have a 2003 H2 (over 200,000 miles) that my husband has customized. He has either adapted various things from Harbor Freight (roof rack), Jeep parts (spare tire carrier and snorkel) or built stuff (hood gaurd). We love the truck and have enjoyed many roadtrips, making the best of the trucks capabilities. Photos are from our honeymoon camping in the French Quarter and a recent off road car show. Plan on doing the TWAT maybe next uear - after a few repairs.
We just got home from our last trip that almost went off without a hitch. And when I say "without a hitch" I mean almost literally. An hour and a half away from our destination we noticed the trailer hitch sitting several inches lower than when we left. Further inspection we learned the hitch is all rusted from the inside out and cracked in a critical spot.
Hubby MacGyvere'd support using our rear mounted winch, some angle iron, the roof rack and ratchet straps so we could get the trailer home safely. Now begins the adventure of finding a "new to us" gently used Hummer hitch or figuring out how to adapt or fabricate something as no one makes a replacement
Until then, we are grounded from towing. Look forward to seeing and reading more of everyone else's adventures and builds.
