Fordyce Creek?

Anyone ever thought of it? Just by the videos it seems like fun, but not sure when everyone with stock H3's could go. Could H1's 2's and 3's make it?

It has it's own Forum on Pirate, Speedy's club is the Adopt a trail Club for the Forest Service and we maintain it. And we live about 45 minutes from the trail head

That is Rick Roberts in the H1. he is a fellow PsychoSquad member. Bebe's probably knows for sure but Rick's is the only H1 I know that has done Fordyce.

How is Rick doing? Has he been modding up his 97 (current H1)? Is he still wheelin with the Squad?

Rick is still a PyschoSquad member. I saw him up at Big bear a couple of weeks ago. He was doing a trail ride for kids. He has started doing some things to his truck. He has the rock rails on. It will take awhile to replace everything that burned up.

Yeah Rick is an all around good guy. He has volunteered a ton of time and the Psycho Kitchen ( a fully equipped mobile kitchen in an M101A3 ) to support everything from the Boy Scouts to other offroad and trail maintenance groups. He has been a huge assist to the USFS San Bernadino group.

I think Rick may be the only Hummer to drive Fordyce and not spend the winter there.

There are 3 places I want to go. Moab, the Rubicon and Fordyce Creek. I talked to some so cal guys about running the rubicon next summer and only a few seem interested. I was told that my best bet would to arrange something with bebe because she has run it before and get a few other hummer guys to tag along. Fordyce will have to wait until I do some more modifications, I dont think I am an capable enough and experienced enough yet.

Fordyce looks like a bucket list trail. Anyone that wheels will want to take a crack at it at some point.

Yup! Waiting till i get some experiance to actually even go there. Plus i would want to go with Bebe. Think of how cool a picture would be with Bebe pulling out y h1 from Fordyce:wink: Id be interested in wheeling there somtime but would have to be in the summer

I have run the trail twice in the H3 - both time before the big mods. It's not that hard and there are bypasses to the really tough stuff, although the bypasses are in a couple of cases just as difficult but not as long.

You don't need anything special to run it...just time.

Late june to early July is the best time for me after the BH event. Bebe you think an H1 with 40-41" tires can run it? Debating if i should stay with the same tires or upgrade to the Irok/MTR Kevlar Tires:huh:

Fordyce has 3 really deep creek crossings.

The best time to run is later in the Summer or early Fall. The spring melt which can still be happening in June and July can have the creek running over 1500cfs. In order to cross safely the creek needs to be down to 200cfs. The only time that flow is guaranteed in during the Sierra Trek Event which is the 2nd weekend of August.

I haven't run Sierra Trek since my run with King Cozy because that is also the same weekend as the Disabled Sports USA Far west Rubicon Event.

Aside from that it's best to run in late September or early October because the water is low.

As far as tires - for the H1's I would recommend something with a really heavy duty sidewall. Between the added weight/width and the sharp granite, I would say Iroks.
