anyone know if they take the same bulbs as behind the HVAC knobs?

I have a light out (4wheel HI LOCK).

I used these bulbs from superbrightleds.com for the HVAC illumination, but curious if same bulbs are used for the locking control panel.

No. Those bulbs are soldered to the board. I have one out too.

Are they surface-mount LED's ...like the dash cluster?

I bought a regular socketed LED bulb at the local store, which contained a cluster of several LED chip's, removed one...then soldered it onto my H3's dash board. It was a lot cheaper that way and didn't take very long. You might have to do some math to ensure the voltage of what you buy is within the H3's range. I'm sure there are general Y/T videos how to do it. So *if* that's what's behind your H3's 4x4 selector, should be a pretty easy fix. But if they're small incandescent bulbs, stick to what's there. There are places online, bulbs is all they sell..and have about every kind. Or ebay..

They are incandescent. You can solder a new one in.
