Got my new Yaesu FTM-400DR installed in the truck today. The radio comes turn key ready for APRS so I'm going to be beaconing my position all the way to Moab, in Moab and on the way home beginning Friday the 18th.

Go to http://www.aprs.fi and search for NR6E-9.

APRS is a way for HAM radios to transmit their location. These transmissions are then heard by listening stations all over the country and relayed to aprs.fi.

The system is limited by the range of the transmission, but i think you'd be surprised by how far a short burst on the 2 meter band will go
