A wheel question (with appologies for my absence)

I do feel a bit foolish posting a question after being completely inactive for quite a while (not that I was that active to begin with) :( Family issues have taken the bulk of my time for a while and I didn't have anything worth contributing.

That being said, I could use some help. I've done some moderate searching but cannot find the answer.

My '09 T (leveled) currently runs the factory aluminum wheels and 285's. I'm considering replacing the tires with 315's but might change the wheels as well. I want to stay with 16". I have looked at some ProComp steel wheels (black) in 16x8, with a 4.5" backspacing. Best I can tell, the wider tire combined with the decrease in backspacing might put me dangerously close to hitting the front bumper at full turn. Anyone have some experience with this scenario?

Thanks in advance,

PRC

You'll rub the fender at the rear of the wheel opening before the front bumper. Also...if you choose to keep the stock wheels, you might notice some minor rubbing on the sway-bar. Neither of these is a major problem, and the level job should help. The good thing is...th 4.5" bs is compatible with the Rancho, should you get the urge to go higher.

Thanks. I think I will see if anywhere local has something of the same specs that I can bolt up and verify.

Wifes H3 (SUV) has 315 Kumho MT's with all four sitting at 23.750" on stock rims and never had a rub issue at all.

that's the route I'm taking with my new H3T and expect the same. Now if you wheel it aggressively, I dont know, I dont do that with the Hummers. Thats what the Rubicon was for. Had a bunch of fun, met some really nice folks, just moved on. I love looking at the Hummer so much, I dont want to tear something up and cry in front of everyone...
