Great thread!!!

Daisy is my 6 year old lab.

Here's a photo of her when she first came in to the dog rescue I since adopted her from:
DSC_0013.jpg

Daisy was very very over weight and had a pretty awful coat.

Here's Daisy today:

That one on the left in the last picture looks very similar to my cat (Allie). She isn't a huge "people person" but most cats aren’t. She can be affectionate sometimes but 99% of the time all she cares about is food and being feed :asoff:

She is beautiful, I have a real soft spot for labs. I had Brandy (the black lab in my first post) for 13 years but she passed away about 2 years ago. It took a long time before I could even consider any other dog. I was concerned about getting a new dog but I am glad I did because each dog is unique in there own way.

The Chow Chow is Coco Chownell No. 5 who is from the great state of Texas; Lola Hailey Bailey-we were trying to guess what this 13 yr old dog's name was when we rescued her from Animal Rescue Foundation; and Tinkers from the Humane Society of Southern AZ. The best part is that now they each have their own HUMMER! :giggle:

This is our only pet at present, Mischa.

Just after we bought her. Summer of 2009.

This past winter. Don't they grow up fast?

She has a pure bloodline with pedigree back to the first Shepherd in Germany. Both of her parents are imported from Germany. Family name is Vom Schutz.

Hansolo. My big black scary dog. Looks like the wolf out of a Little Red Riding Hood book.

Hans needs to come back to Moab (Daisy too)
Wish I could. Lack of funds. I have to do a trip to Kansas for Chistmas to see my second Grandson. He's due in November.

Hope I can make it down in April. Hans misses everyone down there too.

Well, I got the pix off the home computer finally!! We rescue English Mastiffs so here are a few of them.

This is our current "Big Dummy" BUTKUS, yep named after the All-American Linebacker Dick Butkus. As you can see he is a professional at taking naps and protecting my niece Syd.

This is MUSSISS, short for Rasmussiss. The best dog/friend I have had. He is no longer with us but still has a prominent place in our home on the mantel over the fireplace. He was a gentle giant who loved all kids and car/boat rides!

Great pics Mutaint, they are great looking dogs. What is the average weight of an English Mastiff? My aunt has a Bull Mastiff and an English Mastiff but I only seen the Bull Mastiff and he was a pup at the time.

It really depends. We have had them between 155lbs (Bula) and a whopping 240lbs (Mussiss). If I average out the EMs we have rescued I would have to say 190lbs for the males and 170 for the ladies. Every one has been great with kids.

BMs are just slightly shorter and weigh about 150-180 lbs.

We grew up rescuing Great Danes, Mom still does. Now my brother rescues St. Bernards and we rescue EMs. My sister is now looking to start rescuing Newfoundlands. We love the Gentle Giant breeds.

There are no bad dogs just bad dog owners!
