Please don't flame me - wheel and tire question

I've been looking on the forum for over an hour, and I know there's a bunch of opinions on tires and wheels, but I haven't found a great answer on size.

I am thinking about a 17 x 9 wheel with a 35 x 12.5 tire. I'd prefer a mild poke, maybe an inch or so beyond the fender. I have stock suspension, no lift. Will this setup:

1. Look good? I'd love to see pics if anyone has run this.
2. Cause any tire rub with no offset?
3. Cause any tire rub with -12 offset?

Thanks. If this is redundant and you have a link to a thread that has this info and that I must have missed, please cut and paste so I don't waste anyone's time.

I have 18x9 wheels with -12 offset and 38x13.5" Too Open Country Tires, no lift kit, only a leveling kit and I have very little tire rub at full lock.

Thanks! Those are the factory U-Steps that attach to the factory rock rail. They are hard to find, but occasionally pop up for sale on-line, craigs list, eBay, etc..
