I think its great but its too bad they don't offer them in the US. I will have to look again but if I remember correct these C versions are not the same as a standard AM General one. Different frame or something like that.

? No.. if anything its a HMMWV frame or if it is different its the 3 section ECV frame which is compatible.

I had pictures kicking around of AM General assembling a C-series before the announcement. If anything its similar to the K-series 2007 trucks.

I'm hoping they open up the parts to us since they are getting new interior pieces done but its a PITA dealing with AM General for parts at the moment.

It is interesting how they can sell them for $60k or so new but they can't make a finished one for the US market under $100k? With scraping out the interior on mine I haven't really had to get a hold of AM General for any parts so I don't know how they are to work with.

Just use wood for the interior like the Chinese import version. Go straight to Home Depot and cut out the middleman. :)

60k was basically the price of each of the parts ordered from the parts and service manual... no joke. That's where the hmmwv C initial kit price came from.

And you know there's markup on the parts since they offered to assemble everything minus the engine/transmission/t-case. But yeah, as we know the US kit never went anywhere here.

I'm guessing the lawyers thought it may attact too much attention from the DOT/EPA, which doesn't make sense since you have big rig semi companies making the same thing... glider kits, brand new heavy truck chassis and having the aftermarket install 1990's, pre DEP engines into them.

I'm serious on this, the trucking industry has been doing the "humvee-c thing" for years:

http://www.htctrucks.com/index.php/sales/harrison-truck-centers-glider-kits
http://www.kenworth.com/news/news-releases/2012/august/kenworth-glider-kits/

I'm just steamed because I would have sold my truck for a humvee-c kit and do it with a 4bt twin turbo cummins :/
